Thanks to all of our amazing volunteers and to everybody who came out to walk/jog/run in this year’s FFAST 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk. It was great to see so many families walking and running together! And this year’s event really captured the community spirit.
Crisp, cool fall air and the clear blue sky were the perfect backdrop for a morning of healthy fun & fitness. The new improved 5K route took runners through the pretty, rolling streets of the Belvedere Park neighborhood. Youth as young as 5 years old ran the 3.1 mile course. Awesome!

The event kicked off with Steffanie Haggins from Studio Steffanie leading a great warm-up. Walkers and runners were enthusiastically cheered on from the sidelines and on the course. There was plenty to do back at the park – lucky participants got a Trigger Point Release with Spine Divine’s Dr. Kari Dianich, some got free flu shots from Walgreen’s, and Mercer University’s Master of Public Health students had a super fun fitness for fruit activity. Towers Action Group (TAG) was on hand to talk about their good work in the Towers District and PAHL had some fresh garden-grown sweet potatoes for sale.
One of the great things about the FFAST 5K is all the socializing, the hula hooping, singing along to your favorite tunes with neighbors and new friends and cheering on the 5K winners as they pick up their awards. Oh, and let’s not forget our new mascot- DINO. Dino was there making the rounds, chasing soccer balls with a vengeance and having photo ops. Dino = Adorable.
We hope that next year you will come back to walk/jog/run again or join us for the first time. Until then, be like Dino-
